Chief Chris Leusner Still No Device On the Horizon To Show Cannabis Impairment

🎧 The NJ Cannabis Legalization Series continues on the NJ Criminal Podcast. Meg is joined by Middle Township Police Chief, Christopher Leusner, to discuss the use of cannabis by off-duty police. 🍃

Chief Leusner began his career in law enforcement in 1997 and was promoted to Chief in 2009.

A graduate of Middle Township High School, Gloucester County College, and Saint Leo University, he holds a Master's Degree in Administrative Science and a Certificate in Law and Public Safety Leadership. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 234.

In 2000, he joined the Township SWAT team, and served as a member for nine years. Leusner later became the commander of the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team. He was also promoted to Sergeant in February 2003 and served on the Patrol Squad for three years.

In addition to his responsibilities as a police officer, Chief Leusner is also the past President of the Cape May County Chiefs of Police Association and the New Jersey State Association of Sheriffs. He has served as a member of the Cape Regional Wellness Alliance since 2016. He has been active in promoting a healthier and more active lifestyle in the Cape May area through his involvement with the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) project. In addition, he has developed Law Enforcement Summer Youth Camps in four high-risk areas in Cape May County.
