Christopher Leusner

Middle Township Chief of Police

Christopher Leusner is the Middle Township Chief of Police. Chief Leusner began his career in law enforcement in 1997 and was promoted to Chief in 2009.

A graduate of Middle Township High School, Gloucester County College, and Saint Leo University, he holds a Master's Degree in Administrative Science and a Certificate in Law and Public Safety Leadership. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 234.

In 2000, he joined the Township SWAT team, and served as a member for nine years. Leusner later became the commander of the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team. He was also promoted to Sergeant in February 2003 and served on the Patrol Squad for three years.

In addition to his responsibilities as a police officer, Chief Leusner is also the past President of the Cape May County Chiefs of Police Association and the New Jersey State Association of Sheriffs. He has served as a member of the Cape Regional Wellness Alliance since 2016. He has been active in promoting a healthier and more active lifestyle in the Cape May area through his involvement with the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) project. In addition, he has developed Law Enforcement Summer Youth Camps in four high-risk areas in Cape May County.

The New Jersey Attorney General's Office cited Chris Leusner as a successful example of a leader who has worked to make a positive impact on the community. In September 2012, he was named President of the 107th Annual Installation Banquet of the New Jersey Police Chiefs Association. His leadership and dedication has been recognized by Oprah Winfrey and the Cape Regional Wellness Alliance. The Mayor of Cape May is a proud supporter of the program, and Chris Leusner cites it as an example of an effective police chief.

Chris Leusner has made a name for himself in the police community, and his accomplishments have been recognized by others. In Cape May County, he has helped start the Handle With Care program, a program that encourages children to reach out for help when they are experiencing a violent situation. This program has been a tremendous success, and has been recognized by Oprah Winfrey, who presented the award at the 107th Annual Installation Banquet in Atlantic City.

Christopher is also a member of the FBI National Academy Associates New Jersey Chapter and the Cape May County Chiefs of Police Association. Leusner is a graduate of Middle Township High School and the Gloucester County College. He holds a Master's degree in administrative science, as well as a Certificate in Law and Public Safety Leadership. He graduated from the FBI National Academy Session 234 and has also attended the FBI National Academy.

Leusner joined the Wildwood Police Department in May 1997 and joined the Middle Township Police Department in September 1997. He was a member of the Township SWAT Team and served for nine years as its commander. During that time, he was promoted to Sergeant and worked on the Patrol Squad. During his time as a police officer, he has been involved in many community affairs and law enforcement endeavors.

Christopher graduated from the FBI National Academy and from the New Jersey State Chiefs of Police West Point Command and Leadership School. He is currently certified as Accredited Chief Executive-Advanced through the New Jersey Association of Chiefs of Police and is a Senior Adjunct Professor at ACCC.

Chief Leusner is also a past President of the Cape May County Chiefs of Police Association, past President of the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police, and past State President of the FBI National Academy New Jersey Chapter.
