Author: Mark Shaw

Dorothy Kilgallen was known for her work as a journalist, her appearances on the television game show "What's My Line," and her investigative reporting on high-profile cases, including the JFK assassination.

She was a trailblazer for women in journalism during the mid-20th century. She is the only reporter to interview Jack Ruby.

Her tenacity and fearless pursuit of the truth earned her respect in the industry. In fact, the book includes a quote attributed to

Ernest Hemingway, who once referred to Kilgallen as "the greatest female writer in the world."

However, it's Kilgallen's mysterious death that takes center stage in Shaw's book. She was found dead in her New York City townhouse in November 1965, and the circumstances surrounding her death raised questions and suspicions. The official cause of death was an overdose of barbiturates, but doubts immediately emerged about whether it was truly an accident.

In closing, I must point out that it is absurd to claim a woman took one-hundred barbiturates and never once vomited.
